Hi, have you ever had any issues with the idler gear bolt snapping or coming loose? I have seen a few posts online saying that these have failed. I was hoping not to have to mess with this bolt as I don’t know the correct torque settings or procedure for tightening it up. A few theories are that people are possibly over tightening the bolt when turning the engine over as they’re using this bolt instead of the main crank bolt. Any knowledge you have on this would be greatly appreciated. 👍

Hey there, Thank you so much for this guide. I've been following this as I do my own bmw 1 series. Bloody hard on your own but all is going well. I had a quick questions, I've taken off my old flywheel and just moutning the new one. I took a flashlight to the dowel alignment pin and it looked like it was on. I've just buzzed it on with an impact driver so it hasn't pulled it in much. My question is before I torque it down. Should there be play behind the flywheel? Mine doesn't fill like it's sitting flush, so I want to make sure that the pin has actually gone in. I'm considering taking it off and having another check that everything is sitting nicely. Or should I torque it down and it should sit back during tighting. Thanks again for the guide. Life saver
